Week 2

So last week I was gutted, this week I'm PISSED OFF!

So last week I put on 0.4kg, this week 0.5kg - HOW?!?!?

I've stuck to plan (even weighing and measuring to check my portion sizes), upped my step targets and moderate exercise targets...

BUT compared to last week

....Deficits still there, but the snow has obviously effected the step count and exercise, and even me starting back at the gym at the end of last week - hasn't helped much.. *sulks*

Nutrition stats are better though:

Last week:
This week:
That looks better!

SO I've fed this data back into the system and a whole new set of targets for next week, interestingly when I was only playing with the system, eating more and exercising less I was losing 0.1 - 0.2 kg a week, so hopefully the increase in calories will back up my thoughts last week that I'm not eating enough....

Right - another week - here we come... I will try NOT to get despondent! A day off the diet tomorrow evening too... It's valentine's day tomorrow and we've off to one of our favourite Bistro pubs for dinner and I refuse to stress about the calories. I'll log everything and see from there....

Days 12 and 13.

Had a good day on Friday. Food was good and made sure I got the steps in so I was allowed my weekly treat (chipshop chips)

Fed up with the cold and icy weather I got out to the gym. Was good and bad. Was determined to do 5km on the treadmill. I ran walked (with a speed walk uphill section) in the middle. I was rather disheartened by the time... it took be 48.30 to do the 5km. Depressing when I use to run it in 29.29 and a 10km in 60.50. It will come back when the weight drops I'm sure.

I've also dug out 30 Day Shred this week. so will start to tackle that this week too...

Saturday started well... Food was going reasonably well and was all planned out.... Went out to do a few bits and bobs and whilst out the OH dropped in we were also going somewhere else... I hadn't bought any snacking food with me... I held out... but after a few hours, then craving for food kicked in had to stop for food!! OH tucked into chcloate, malt loaf and cheese.. I wanted jaffa cakes.. so 3 pack so a tube had to be bought.. and that's where the big FAIL hit... I went through 4 and put them away...

When home is where the FAIL hit.. instead of putting them away in the cupboard out of sight, I put them on the side.. and everytime I walked by 2 came out of the box - GRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr...

Hey ho... todays another day!!!

Day 9

Back to normal routine so was away in hotel last night.

Had running kit with me, but it didn't get out of the car!

Got to hotel, out of car onto the ice rink that was the carpark made the decision that the pavements around the area were just to dangerous to risk a walk, so focus was to protect a deficit and hope the steps will catch back.

Was happy with this.

Following some advise I have increased my activity target to 120 mins a day. So will see what happens with that.

I have also been keeping a eye on the %ages of protein vs carb vs fat.

This is yesterdays:

Info on the Kifit website shows my targets should be:

Doesn't look to far away so pleased with that! Hoepfully the rest of the week will continue!

Week 1

Well.... One word to sum up week 1 - GUTTED!!!!

The stats above look good don't they... Slightly over on Consumed, slightly under on burned... but nothing major... Steps a huge increase on previous weeks...

BUT the outcome to the weight.. 0.4kg increase! Yup the weight has gone up!!!

Now I know it can increase when you increase exercise - but really?!?!?

I wonder if I've not eaten enough this week. Was under 1400cals a couple of days and know I shouldn't do that. Also have been playing around with different foods... increasing the fruit etc....

Next step is to reduce the fat levels... but surely cals in vs cals out should be the same regardless of what they are.. Grrr....

Week two ahoy!

Day 5

Brrr!! Blinking cold out today.

Friday night is "date night". Me and OH 8pm on the sofa with a chip supper. It's my treat of the week and all counted for in the calories. Have tweaked it over the last couple of weeks from a mini fish to chicken meat...so think that's a healthier option!

Normally go to the gym (step class) and then to chip shop *tut*. But today had my 3 yearly nether region "dentist" visit so missed the class.... no way I was attempting the walk around the village tonight - down to -5 at 5pm!! So will have to accept the deficit today. Am not going to get stressy about it.

WIll do a "walk at home" dvd tomorrow if I need too! Snow on the way tomorrow night so will see what we get.

Haven't linked gadget up for screen dump - so will have to do both tomorrow...

Day 4

Well I can tell the variation in activity level dependant on where I am each day.

In the office today and although numerous trips up and down the stairs to fill my waterbottle and go to the loo, and trips to the printer my steps total was rubbish!

Had a docs appointment for my annual asthma review all was good and then home. Was really hungry, so grabbed a sandwich and sat to log food and let the sandwich settle.

Temperature was well below freezing and I was after an excuse not to go out again. I didn't fancy the drive down the lanes to the gym (or more to the case back from the gym!) so was tempted not to bother. BUT the house really wasn't warm and I was verging on cold. My step count was pitiful at around 3500 and I couldn't stand the thought of blogging on here and declaring that to myself.

So wrapped up warm I hit the tarmac. Can't wait until I get rid of my cold and cough and starting to run again - the steps should disappear a lot quicker then! BUT off I went thinking I'd do 4000 and at least break the back.

Sometimes it would be nice to live in a bigger town to make getting the steps in a bit easier. At 3400 I nearly called it quits. The cold was starting to seep through my layers and although I was walking as quickly as normal my vigorous target wasn't getting any nearer - must have been the cold meaning I wasn't as warm. I wanted to call it quits, but my inner self wouldn't allow it... so headed back in the direction i had come to retrace the steps and attempt to get somewhere near the 6000 I needed..... Near home and at 9600.... so back out my road and round the block again... YAY! home to 6500 and 10500 total! Result! Boy is it cold out there!

Right yesterday's totals:

Not the best but expected!

Day 3

Well Day 3... Not the best day... best laid plans an all that!

In the way Tuesdays are not good for healthy eating, Wednesdays are not good for "activity levels". All day in the office, generally leave late, 130 odd mile drive home not normally home much before 9 and hungry, so not much chance for much movement.

SO I've come to the conclusion I just need to factor that into the equation, so low steps on Wednesday mean increased steps until the deficit is made...sounds like a plan but we will see!

Food hasn't been good either, stuck in meetings, really hungry and away from healthy snacks meant I succumbed to the temptation of 3 choccie biscuits... then when home planned dinner went out the window as hubby rang to say he wouldn't be home before 10... hey ho. Rejigged and relogged food and as long as come out with some shortfall no matter how small, I'll be happy. Checking current display and info looks achievable.

So this week 2 good, 1 bad so far.... Meatloaf reckons 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but I'm too much of a perfectionist for that!

Anyway - yesterdays screen dump:

A huge deficit again - so might be why I'm hungry again today - so will have to keep an eye on that. Everything well on track for all the other figures!

I've been craving a pepsi max today too. I went off caffeine about 18 months ago. Used to live on coffee and pepsi max drank nothing else apart from water at the gym. Then 18 months ago got up one morning and didn't feel like it and haven't really touched it since. Just the odd Pepsi Max from time to time. A bit of a treat when I fancy one, and then don't really enjoy it. Trying to figure out the trigger for it.. maybe the chocolate? When I went off it I was really fit an eating really healthy - bit odd I didn't touch it when ill and piling on the pounds last year.. hmmm... one to ponder that one!

Let's hope Day 4 is a better one!

Day 2

Tuesdays are always worst for any efforts at healthy eating. Normally have a 130mile drive up to Scunthorpe and an overnighter in a hotel.

Today no hotel, but a day out a major customer meant 150 miles of driving and a pub lunch with colleagues between meetings.

I figured I'd swap my main dinner for lunch and then keep an eye on the calories that way.

Home not too late and another wrap up against the -1 temps and out the door for a short walk around the village to make up any deficit. Put on an extra pair of shorts tonight under the leggings as thighs got rather chilly and had a nice red glow when I got home yesterday! Still slightly chilly but much better.

I'm wondering about the usefulness of activity targets. The moderate levels seem rather low and I keep meeting those by around 10am each day. So might need to tweak those.

I'm a bit peeved that when I reset my programmes at the weekend I somehow managed to reset my weight loss - so kifit shows 0kg, when it was at 1.1... Grrrr... but guess that will give me a figure for the 100 days - the joy of the subconscious!

Below is a screen dump from yesterday:

Deficit from yesterday is a bit high, combined with todays food, might explain why I'm so hungry this evening. Will see what tomorrow brings!

Day 1

Well the blog seems to be working...

It's kept me focussed on the job in hand.. eating well and burning well...

Yesterday was a complete wipe out as far as healthy eating... Was feeling rough, swollen glands and a chesty cough, and comfort foods and chocolate was the order of the day...

Thankfully a decent sleep and the extra vitamins seem to be kicking in. Felt a bit rough this morning but much better by lunchtime.

Escaped work a bit early and home before 6pm. Temperature had dropped below freezing but was determined to get the 10000 steps in... so pulled out my thermal running gear. Wasn't convinced it would fit as it hasn't been out since Winter 2010, when I was fit and running half marathons... managed to squeeze into a couple of tops that used to be very baggy and thankfully the leggings are VERY stretchy!

Had 4000 to do, and a circuit of the village meant I was back with a total of 10500! Happy days!

99 to go!

Day (minus) 1

Well, I've had a Ki Fit armband for a few months now and have played with the system and attempted to use properly.

For reference - I'm not associated with Ki Fit in any way, just stumbled across the gadget, read about it and then bought a unused one from eBay. Signed up for a subscription and played.

Inspired to use it more I signed up to one of their diet programmes in the New Year - which has been extremely useful, but I still haven't been fully committed - mostly due to work getting in the way (being in hotels isn't the best thing for healthy eating!).

I also find the fact that you can't log any comments onto the online tracker a bit of a pain. I need somewhere to log why I ate over my calories, how I managed to burn so many calories on one day and so few on another...

...so the blog is the answer.

After finding MsKays blog - 100 days seemed a sensible challenge.... so hence the (100 days at least blog title!)

Being away and not being able to connect the armband was also a problem so I got a display that I can take with me and that has definitely helped over the last week.

SO... let's get the nasty stats up on the board shall we...

Weight: 79.1 Kg
Loss to date: 1.1 Kg
Target Weight:

This week:
Target Calories per Day - Consume: 1550
Target Calories per Day - Burn: 2650
Target Steps per Day: 10000

I've reviewed the settings above increased the steps etc.

Just need to ensure I accurately log EVERYTHING as haven't been convinced I have been!

So here's to the next 100 days!
